DurhamDogWalkers.com is the area’s premier dog walking and in-your-home pet sitting company serving the Durham metro area. We are professional dog care takers and have been in business for over 15 years. Our friendly team consists of highly-trained and experienced dog walkers and pet sitters who live right in your area. We take care of your furry family members when you are unable to do so due to long days at work or on occasions when you must travel and be away from home for an extended period of time such as a business trip, family vacation, etc.

We make it as simple and straight-forward as possible to enroll your furry family members in dog walking/sitting services with our company… But before you go ahead and pull the trigger, you probably have some questions and lucky for you we have all of them already answered! Simply select the specific FAQ of your choice and then proceed accordingly.

All dog walking clients are required to enroll in a monthly pre-paid billing cycle. We will bill your debit card/credit card on-file approximately within the last 4 to 7 calendar days of the month. So for example, for the pre-paid billing cycle for the full month of February you would get billed sometime between January 25 and January 31.

Our system uses the highest enterprise-level security measures available today and is fully automated when it comes to all monthly billing functions. Once you are officially enrolled, you won’t have to ever worry about making any daily or weekly payments as services will re-bill accordingly. Any unused dog walks/visits during the month will automatically get credited towards the following month.

The initial consultation also commonly known as the “meet and greet” visit is $55.
We accept debit cards and credit cards issued by MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. Your payments are processed securely by Intuit.com once a month. Intuit is a leader in small business solutions, their flagship products/services include QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax.

If you would prefer to pre-pay manually by cash or check, contact your coordinator of services to make such arrangements in advance.

Yes. If you would like to pre-pay for your dog walking services in advance for a period of 3 or 6 months you can benefit from up-to a 15% discount. Please contact your coordinator of services to make such arrangements and your 10% or 15% savings will kick in on your next billing cycle.
We don’t penalize our clients for cancellations if we are notified in advance. We require at least a 12 hours notice on Monday – Friday and 24 hours on Saturday/Sunday of cancellations to scheduled services or you will be charged a fee of $15.
Our 20 – 30 minute walks/visits are good for up-to 2 pets. Our longer 45 – 60 minute walks/visits are good for up-to 3 pets. For each additional dog to be cared for there will be an additional $7 charge to compensate for the time required to make sure every dog is properly cared for.
Yes! While our specialty is dogs, we are able to take care of your other indoor pets when need be, including cats, fish, birds and any other legal animals which you own, living in your household. We even take care of horses and a variety of other farm animals. Please inquire for special pricing and more detailed information if you have additional pets who will need pet care/sitting.
Yes. All of our dogs who are enrolled in regular mid-day walks based on a service contract/agreement are visited exclusively by the same dog walker, unless your regularly assigned dog walker is away on an emergency or sick, in which case a substitute will fill in for that period of time. You will be notified of any changes in advance.
You will be able to monitor and verify dog walking activity in real-time via Glympse. We have partnered with Glympse.com to provide clients the ability to track when your dog walker is out and about with your pets.

Glympse is a groundbreaking location sharing tool which all of our team members utilize on their smartphones. Our dog walkers/sitters broadcast their GPS location direct to you via a text message or e-mail which you are then able to monitor and review in real-time on any computer, tablet or smartphone.

Yes! We are trained and certified in Pet First Aid, Care & CPR by the Red Cross and/or PetTech. Our dog walkers master the skills they need to provide the best possible care of your loved one’s health and safety in all possible situations.
You can contact your care service provider by sending him an e-mail directly at fullfirstname.firstletteroflastname@durhamdogwalkers.com

For example, to reach out to Anne Davis, you would send an e-mail formatted to the following address: anne.d@durhamdogwalkers.com

Our company is fully insured by a specialized commercial general liability policy with the Business Insurers of the Carolinas, and we are bonded by the Travelers Insurance Company. Please do keep in mind that we are only liable for damage from negligence or willful misconduct by one of our dog walkers or overnight sitters.

Due to the unpredictability of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for uncontrollable mishaps by one of your pets such as when furniture damage occurs or destruction of items to which your pets have direct access to when they are all alone.

As many as you want… That is your decision. For most dogs, we recommend a minimum of 1 – 2 visits per day if you are away from home for long periods of time. It really depends on your dog(s) unique routine/daily needs/etc.
Chances are, you’re looking for a dog walker/pet sitter because you feel stressed (and maybe a little guilty too) about leaving your pet home alone, whether it’s for a long vacation or for long days/nights when you’re stuck at the office taking care of business.

You’ll be able to relax and to really focus on work or fun knowing that your pet is in caring and capable hands of one of our professionals. We’ll reduce your pet’s stress too by providing companionship, exercise, and stimulation while you’re away. You’re pet will be happy and comfortable and so will you. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!

If you are happy with the services provided then sure! Tips are never expected, but always appreciated by our dedicated team of hard-working dog walkers and pet sitters.
All copies of client keys are safely stored in our enterprise level safe/lockbox. Keys do not contain any labels or identification of any of your personal information such as name/address/etc. We code them based on a variety of random and unique identifiers.
During the initial consultation/meet and greet, we will discuss the preferences you have for emergency type of situations in regards to your home and pet. If an emergency occurs with your pet we would like for you to instruct us on how to handle the situation before making a trip to the Vet. Emergency contact information and specific instructions will be collected before dog walking or overnight sitting services begin. We keep this information on-file and it is available to all dog walkers and pet sitters.
Yes. The contract states permission to enter your to home to care for your dog(s) and that you agree to our company policies and procedures.
Yes. We’ll be glad to provide you with professional references and our companies’ credentials. Simply contact us and we will e-mail, fax or mail you a copy.
We like to give both dog owner and the assigned dog walker/sitter the chance to get acquainted with each other in person. This is a good time to discuss your pet’s habits or any other special requirements and to make sure proper care is given to your dog all-around.
The initial meet and greet consultation is very important, as it gives the opportunity for the entire family including pet(s) and our dog walkers to get to know one another. The visit is held at your home and typically is between 30 to 60 minutes in length. All pets to be cared for and their owners must be present at the initial consultation.

It is important for our company to learn as much as possible about your pet(s) in order for us to make the best recommendation about meeting your pet’s needs. The initial meet and greet visit also allows your family to get to know the care taker first hand and learn about our company policies and procedures.

The only time you will need another in-person consultation is if you change your address, your pet’s care changes (ie; requires medical or other special attention), or we need to get acquainted with a new addition to your pet family (puppy, cat, etc).
After we meet with you and your pet at your home we will go over all of the required forms, ie; a service contract, vet release, and pet profile. You will also need to provide us with keys/alarm codes/etc and any other special instructions so that we may access your home or apartment.

Once that has been taken care of, we’ll be able to start providing services for your pet(s) on the requested dates. Simple!

Professional Durham Dog Walkers

Our team of professional dog walkers in Durham is 20+ strong. You’ll be glad to know that our entire dog walking team consists of only the most highly qualified and experienced professionals who you can always count on taking good care of your pet when you are not around.

We provide professional care of your furry family members backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee that will meet and exceed all of your dog walking needs. We don’t just show up and then leave quickly like many of our competitors simply do in order to collect a paycheck… NO! When we arrive to your home, we truly mean business.

Payment for overnight dog sitting services is due in full during the initial meet and greet consultation for new clients. All of the day(s) and night(s) being reserved by existing clients must be paid in full as well, the same day when the reservations are being made and to go into effect.

Our overnight sitting payment structure is comparable to that of the hotel industry. All clients are encouraged to book as far in advance as possible to lock in their requested dates, and guarantee services, since our overnight sitting availability is limited — especially during weekends and major holidays.

We accept debit cards and credit cards issued by MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. Your payments are processed securely by Intuit.com. Intuit is a leader in small business solutions, their flagship products/services include QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax.

If you would prefer to pre-pay manually by cash or check, contact your coordinator of services to make such arrangements in advance.

Sure! Not a problem. If you don’t require in-your-home overnight sitting services (where one of our pet sitters will sleep in your home) we can instead come over a couple of times per day (morning/afternoon/evening) and take care of all your pet(s). Each drop-by visit will be one hour long and billed at the regular dog walking/visitation rates of $30.

Minimum visits required (if you aren’t booking overnight sitting services) is 2 daily, with one in the morning and one later in the evening — with 3 recommended for households with multiple animals (3 or more). Due to liability issues and animal welfare concerns, we cannot provide pet sitting services with less than 2 daily hourly visitations while you are away from home. Each of these visits will be spread out approximately 10 – 12 hours apart.

Yes. If you book 4, 5 or 6 overnights you will save $5 off each night. If you book 7, 8 or 9 overnights you will save $10 off each night.

If you schedule/book your overnight sitting services at least 3 month’s in advance, you will benefit from an additional 10% savings.

We don’t penalize our clients for cancellations if we are notified in advance. We require at least a full 2 day (48 hours) notice for scheduled services set to begin on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and a full 3 day notice (72 hours) for scheduled services set to begin on Saturday or Sunday. Failure to notify us of a cancellation in advance within these specific time-frames will result in a $55 charge/fee.
We do not charge for any additional dogs, up to three, per the same household. For households with more than 3 dogs present, each additional dog to be cared for will be charged $15/each to compensate for the time required to make sure every dog is properly cared for. Additional small pets (up to 2 each/pair) such as cats and birds will be taken care of and included in services, with a flat-fee of $15.
